Today's Forecast High Temperatures

At least one more day of intense heat and humidity will affect millions of people throughout the Central Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley, and Southeast today.

Today may mark the end of the intense heat for many across the nation as increased cloud cover and shower and thunderstorm activity will help cool temperatures. Still, summer's heat and humidity will likely continue and more moderate levels over the weekend.

While very few, if any, records are expected to be broken today, numerous Heat Advisories remain in place for many from near the Mississippi River to the western slopes of the Appalachians. East of the Appalachian Mountains, additional Heat Advisories can be found across northern Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania, and western New Jersey, including Philadelphia.

High temperatures in most of these areas will peak in the lower to middle 90s. When these temperatures are combined with dew point temperatures in the 70s, it will feel like the upper 90s and low 100s!

If you are in one of these areas experiencing unseasonably hot temperatures, it will be important to stay hydrated and cool. Avoid exposure to the sun from late morning into the early evening. Take frequent breaks in the air conditioning or shade. Eat and dress lightly. Use sun protection if outdoors. Never leave kids or pets unattended and remember to “Look Before You Lock!” Recognize the signs of heat-related illness.
